Our story

It began with two women, a Bible, and a yes.

Women of Valor began as a prayer community in March 2020, growing from a 14-day fast into a movement of faith and service. In December 2025, WOV Women Helping Women, Inc. became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Who we are

Not an organization first.
A heart.

Women of Valor was born as a heart—a heart to pray, a heart to serve, and a heart to help. What began with two women seeking God became a place where women could learn His Word, find encouragement, and show up for one another.

WOV is rooted in sisterhood, but what we are building is community: a place where women are seen, heard, valued, and supported, and where caring partners can stand with the mission.

Our mission

Rooted in prayer and guided by faith, WOV Women Helping Women, Inc. empowers underserved women—with a special focus on widows and single mothers—by providing compassionate support, practical resources, education, and opportunities that promote personal, spiritual, and professional growth.

Our vision

We envision a world where every woman is seen, heard, valued, and supported—strengthened by faith, surrounded by community, and empowered to live with dignity and purpose.

It started with two

No stage. No platform.
Just obedience.

In March 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Saru Juran and Sister Rumbie committed to a 14-day fast. Each morning at 6:00, they prayed, shared Scripture, and reflected on God’s Word. They returned in the evening to close the day together.

When the fast ended, one question remained: Now what? Saru felt God’s nudge to continue. The two women began meeting from 6:00–7:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, opening the Bible at Genesis and learning together without pressure or judgment.

Two became three. Three became four. Women joined from Florida, Massachusetts, Georgia, North Carolina, Virginia, and beyond—often inviting others who were also hungry and thirsty for the Word.

“Here, you are seen. Here, you are heard. And here, you matter.”

From prayer to purpose

We didn’t just gather.
We showed up.

Over the years, women came, some left, and some returned. Through every season, the community kept praying, learning, interceding, and standing in the gap. When a woman faced hardship, members responded—sometimes from their own pockets and always from the heart.

That compassion became action. Prayer led to conferences, regional experiences, and practical support. In December 2025, WOV Women Helping Women, Inc. became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, giving that heart for service a formal home.

Saru brings experience in hospitality, event planning, and safety education to WOV’s growing community work.

“When God places something in your heart, He does it with purpose. WOV began with a simple yes. My prayer is that every woman who enters this community feels seen, connected, and encouraged to walk in what God has placed inside her.”
